Arrival & Dismissal

Arrival

School begins at 7:55 a.m. and runs until 2:25 p.m.  On early release Wednesdays; school is dismissed at 11:40 a.m.  Students who arrive after 7:55 a.m. must report to the office and receive a tardy pass before going to class.   Students who are dropped off by parents should arrive no earlier than 7:45 a.m.  There is no supervision for students before that time.

Car Drop-offs

  • Cars will enter between the Town Hall and the Grange Building, proceed along the upper parking lot and down to the back of Noyes onto the basketball court.

  • Up to 7 cars will disembark at time when directed by staff.

  • No one should exit a car without staff direction and none prior to 7:45 a.m.

  • Parents are asked to stay in their car unless absolutely necessary.  Staff will not assist with the exiting from cars if at all possible.

  • After 7:55 a.m. the rear doors will close and students who are tardy will enter through the front door. This “late” time may be adjusted during the first few weeks of school depending on traffic flow.

Crossing Guard

There is a crossing guard stationed in front of the school on Old Sudbury Road from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. to assist children who walk and ride bikes in crossing the street safely.

Bus Arrival

  • When entering the bus, students are asked to sit immediately.
  • Designated staff members will meet each bus. Busses will be unloaded three at a time at the front of the school. Students will remain on the bus until allowed to disembark.
  • Students will proceed through the front doors, and walk directly into their classrooms.

Bike Stand

There is a bike stand located in front of the school next to the Flynn Building. Anyone riding a bike to school is to park his/her bike at the stand and not near the school entryway.

Dismissal

Dismissal time is 2:25 p.m. (11:45 a.m. on early Wednesdays). Parents are asked to complete a Dismissal Plan as part of the Back to School Packet in ASPEN that indicates each student's daily dismissal plan. Here you will note if your child is taking the bus, walking home, or getting picked up by car for each day of the week on a typical week. Please contact the front office if changes to the plan are needed during the year. If a temporary "day of" change is being made in the normal daily pickup, please communicate this to the school in writing. These notes indicate to the classroom teacher that your child is to be released to the back parking lot at dismissal for parent pickup. Parents should know that the school always follows the last written instruction received. A student who is normally picked up on Mondays, for example, needs a note to take the bus home on a Monday.

Children who need to be picked up before normal dismissal should also bring a note.  These students are dismissed to the front office.  Since the office area can get very congested at the end of the school day, parents are urged to minimize “front office” pickups after 1:45 p.m. (11:15 a.m. on early Wednesdays) and use the regular parent pick-up procedure.  Be aware that your car may be blocked in the front parking lot by busses if you are attempting to leave near dismissal time.

Pick-ups

  1. If you are picking up your child during school hours, park in the lot and report to the front office to sign your child out of the building.
  2. If you are picking up your child at dismissal time, enter the back parking lot and follow the line of cars onto the basketball court. Students come out to find their cars in the line-up. Teachers are on duty to supervise. We load approximately twenty cars at a time. Thank you for following the direction of the staff on duty.

Parking

Please follow the posted parking regulations when parking in the lot. Cars are not permitted to park along the front sidewalk or along the grass to the left - these are reserved for emergency vehicles only. Parking regulations are enforced by town police. The first two spaces along the playfield are reserved for handicapped parking. There are also handicapped parking spaces in the Flynn Building parking lot. The next two spaces are to be used for 15-minute parking. These spaces were created for the convenience of parents when making a quick stop, such as dropping off a lunch or picking up a sick child. Please be considerate.
